Can I work while studying in the UK?

What is the "Graduate Route" (Post-Study Work Visa)?
Currently, the UK allows international students who complete a degree to stay and work for 2 years (3 years for PhD graduates).
Are UK Masters programs really only one year?
Yes, most Master’s degrees in the UK are 12 months long. This makes it a very cost-effective and time-saving option compared to other countries where a Master’s takes two years.
Do I need to show a huge bank balance for the visa?
You must show “Proof of Funds” that cover your first year’s tuition plus a set amount for living costs (the amount depends on whether you study in London or outside London).
Can I apply with my O/L results for a Foundation year?
Yes, many UK universities offer Foundation programs for students who have completed their O/Ls but want to start their international degree journey early without waiting for A/L results.
Can I still bring my husband/wife or children with me?
The Reality: As of January 2024, international students on a standard Taught Master’s course cannot bring dependents to the UK.
The Exception: You can only bring dependents if you are enrolled in a Research-based higher degree (like a PhD or a Research Master’s).
Are there full scholarships?
Full scholarships (like Chevening) are extremely competitive. Most universities offer £1,000–£5,000 “International Student Discounts” instead.
Can I pay my tuition in installments?
Yes! Most UK unis allow you to pay a deposit (e.g., £2,000–£5,000) and then pay the rest in 3 to 7 installments throughout the year.
