- FAQ
What are my chances of getting a full scholarship?
The Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship is a prestigious, fully funded government award for Sri Lankan students, covering full tuition, a weekly stipend of NZ$ 531, and travel costs. Applications for 2026 tertiary study typically open in March 2026. Additionally, many universities offer automatic merit-based scholarships ranging from NZ$ 5,000 to NZ$ 10,000 for strong academic profiles.
How much Show Money do I need for a visa?
For the 2026 intake, students must prove they have at least NZ$ 20,000 per year to cover living expenses, in addition to having funds for tuition fees and a return air ticket. These funds must come from a genuine source that Immigration New Zealand can verify
Can I stay in New Zealand after I graduate?
Yes. Graduates of Level 7 (Bachelor’s) qualifications or higher are typically eligible for a 3-year Post-Study Work Visa. This visa allows you to work for any employer and gain the local experience needed to apply for residency via the Green List or the Skilled Migrant Category.
Are work rights changing in 2026?
Currently, international students can work 20 hours per week during term time. However, starting in November 2025, work rights will increase to 25 hours per week, offering more flexibility to cover living costs. Full-time work is allowed during all scheduled holiday breaks.
Is New Zealand a safe and welcoming destination?
New Zealand is consistently ranked as one of the safest countries in the world for international students. Sri Lankan students enjoy a high quality of life with strong support systems on campus, including dedicated orientation programs and multicultural student clubs.
What are the entry requirements for Bachelors ?
Most universities require the completion of Sri Lankan A/Ls with competitive grades (typically 70% or above for direct entry). If you don’t meet these requirements, you can take a Foundation or Pathway program, which guarantees entry into the degree after one year of preparatory study.
Which courses offer the best career outcomes?
For 2026, the Green List highlights high-demand sectors such as Construction, Civil Engineering, IT (Cyber Security/Software Engineering), and Healthcare. Choosing a Master’s in these fields can lead to a “Straight to Residence” pathway immediately upon securing a job offer.
When should I start my application for July 2026?
You should aim to apply at least 3 to 4 months before your start date. For the July 2026 intake, application deadlines generally fall at the end of April 2026. Applying early ensures enough time for visa processing and securing early-bird scholarships.

EXCELLENT Based on 149 reviews Posted on Google Pasindu Madushka17 July 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a very disappointing experience with VIEC during my Australian student visa application process. While my visa refusal was ultimately the decision of the Department of Home Affairs, my concerns are about the quality of the service I received from VIEC. After I paid my university fees and submitted the required documents, some documents were not forwarded to the university on time. The university contacted me directly several times requesting missing documents, and I had to submit some of them myself to avoid further delays. Communication was another major issue. My calls often went unanswered, and replies to my messages were sometimes delayed by several days. During such an important and time-sensitive process, I expected much better communication and support. I was also asked to obtain original scanned copies of my documents, which cost me additional money. However, I later noticed that the visa application contained CamScanner copies instead. This left me questioning why I was asked to incur the extra expense for professional scans. In addition, I did not feel that my SOP or my spouse's SOP received the level of review and guidance I expected from a professional education consultancy. Another concern was the spouse application fee. During our initial discussions, there was no mention of a separate service fee for my spouse's application. We proceeded with VIEC based on the information provided at the time. It was only later, in the middle of the application process, that I was informed about a LKR 150,000 service fee for my spouse's application. After my visa was refused, I requested a refund because I believed the level of service I received did not justify the fee. However, my request was declined, and I was informed that the fee was non-refundable and that all services had been completed. Overall, I felt unsupported throughout the process and was disappointed by the level of communication and attention given to my application. This review reflects my personal experience with VIEC, and based on that experience, I cannot recommend their services to students who expect responsive communication and thorough application support.Posted on Google Sandaru Viraja14 July 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
